Abstract
Increasing campus-wide interest in accessing and using data from distributed databases prompted a close look at data management and administration at Virginia Tech. To increase the value of administrative information for University-wide decision-making, the office of Institutional Research and Planning Analysis has undertaken a project to standardize data elements and codes across all administrative systems and to institutionalize an ongoing standardization process to continually improve the quality of data.
