Abstract
Dartmouth College's approach to developing a campus-wide information system has been shaped by a long-standing philosophy of delivering computing services as a public utility. Comprehensive network connectivity for all campus constituents and a standardized workstation and set of software have facilitated the system's development, as has a collaborative relationship between the library and computing center.
