Revolution in the Information Systems Shop: Reengineering the IS Workplace

Abstract

One of the key issues in current efforts to redesign campus business processes is whether the new processes should be enabled by information systems that focus on them or whether the new processes should share highly integrated data and common methods. This article, which is an update of a CUMREC presentation (CMR9320) made by the authors in May of 1993, relates a new approach to administrative applications at the University of Saskatchewan--one that entailed reorganization, reorientation, and retooling.
