Abstract
This viewpoint article expresses the opinion that client/server technology, though it has been touted as a "miracle cure" for financially stressed organizations, actually has more costs affiliated with it than are apparent at first glance. The author believes that there are great benefits down the road for client/server computing, but we need to understand the hidden costs and proceed with care.
