Abstract
MIT's Distributed Library Initiative is a collaborative effort of the MIT Libraries and the Information Systems department, to deliver electronic library services. In developing these services, conflicts arose from some basic differences in each group's definition of a prototype. They subsequently formed the Prototyping Tank to explore new forms and approaches to information delivery, and the Tank has led to some interesting learning opportunities and synergies between the collaborating groups.
