CAMPUS PROFILE: The Metropolitan Community Colleges

Abstract

This article profiles The Metropolitan Community Colleges, which offers seventy career or transfer degree programs to 19,000 students on five campuses in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. In 1993 a new, district-wide position was created to handle strategic planning and policy-level leadership for technology. Further restructuring and a commitment to providing universal access to information technology resources for the entire campus community led to a coordination of policies and efforts, which increased productivity. This article is based on a visit to The Metropolitan Community Colleges by _CAUSE/EFFECT_ editor Julia Rudy.
