Abstract
Bowie State University students are in demand, and college officials believe the institution's commitment to technology plays a vital role in their popularity. One of the oldest historically black colleges and universities in the country, BSU emphasizes technology in its mission statement and boasts the first university satellite collaboration with NASA. The institution's science, engineering, and mathematics (SEM) computing facility places it as one of only six schools nationwide that are part of the Model Institutions for Excellence program--an example of BSU's plan to be a model for technological teaching methods and infrastructure in higher education.
