Abstract
With the explosive growth of the World Wide Web in the university environment, ubiquitous electronic communication among faculty, students, and administrators integrating electronic mail, desktop productivity tools, and office calendars is increasingly essential. Currently, institutions face a variety of communication technologies each having unique requirements. If educational institutions are to survive, new paradigms for enterprise-wide messaging, training, and cost containment must be implemented. This paper discusses these issues.
