The Role of the Information Systems Professional in Small Colleges and Universities

Abstract

This paper relates the findings of a 1996 study highlighting changes and similarities in the role of information system administrators at institutions with fewer than 5,000 students. Some of the critical issues involve the reporting structures, roles in policy setting and resource acquisition, and the role of committees in the information systems arena. Issues related to finance and budgeting are discussed, including lab and technology fees.
