Abstract
Arizona State University recognized a need for a campus-wide student tracking system. Information about recruitment efforts of prospective students was kept in differing systems in each college and these local applications were not easily connected to the enterprise Student Information System or the Data Warehouse. This paper shares the design decisions the Student Tracking Development Team made as they built a client/server application to track student prospects. Key topics included in this paper are graphical user interface design, location of business rules, data base design, reuse, tool choice, customer acceptance, performance and data use, and security.
