Charlotte's Web: Providing Web Services from A (Accounts Receivable) to Z (Zeroing in on Financial Aid) and In Between (Registration)

Abstract

The University of Mississippi deployed registration via the Web in 1996. It was quickly recognized that offering additional student services over the Web was desired. This paper discusses how the University of Mississippi met its goal of providing secure real-time access to student data through the Web, using existing on-line routines at a very low cost. The authors present a few of the Web-to-database applications developed: accounts receivable, financial aid, and registration. The paper provides information about how users interact with these services, as well as what takes place behind-the scenes to present the information.
