Abstract
The field of Plant Pathology is using digital imaging technologies to aid in the diagnosis of problems that require visual identification. Digital images are replacing the time-intensive method of mailing physical samples of plant material for disease identification. This paper describes "Distance Diagnostics through Digital Imaging," a three-year project of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Plant Pathology and the Office of Information Technology. The project will establish digital imaging stations in 60 Georgia counties and provide training to 180 University faculty in the use of this technology for diagnostics.
