Moving to Client/Server Computing, A User's Perspective

Abstract

This paper focuses on the user's involvement in a conversion to a client/server system. User participation and specific communication with the IT department is key to a successful implementation. This includes testing all programs implemented, testing LAN servers (if on a local area network), stress testing of client computers, and stress testing of central fileservers. This paper covers the problems encountered and the solutions found when the Office of the Registrar converted to a client/server student information system.
