Abstract
This paper discusses the University of Virginia's investigations of various methods to protect copyrighted and site-licensed information. The author outlines the problem with IP filtering, discusses their requirements for authenticated Web access, describes their homegrown proxy-style solution, and provides an assessment of this solution based on the University of Virginia's experience to date.
