Abstract
A network analysis of an educational organization shows how traditional fiefdoms are nothing more than collusionary networks. These networks obsfucate clear processes substituting opaque, bureaucratic ones in their place. As a result, innovation becomes a threat to today's bureaucratic behavior. Innovative break-throughs require strong and open leadership (e.g. bureaucracy busters) and the institutional confidence to take risks. Why? Because innovation is the enemy of bureaucracy, but bureaucracy is the enemy of us all.
