Class Management Tools for Faculty: Providing Choices

Abstract

Baylor University provides an assortment of tools to faculty members to help them record grades and submit them in a timely manner. Professors can begin their semester by downloading class rolls from a Web site. They may use these for grading in various desktop applications or print them to maintain a paper-based grading system. At the end of the semester, professors can mark paper grade rolls, as in the past, or try something new-a Web site where faculty members can submit their electronic grading files to be processed. Soon to be released at Baylor is SCT's Web for Faculty, which will provide class management tools in a central location for professors. This session will discuss how we came to offer these choices, some of the security issues involved, and what we've learned from our mistakes and from our users.
