A Federated Model of Computing Support at a Large State University

Abstract

Four years ago, faculty and administrative users were clamoring for improvements in the levels of assistance they were receiving from the University of North Texas. The university responded by increasing staffing and by creating a federated structure for coordinating the efforts of distributed computing support units. This talk will discuss the model that resulted and will provide specifics on funding, support ratios, and how the model has successfully brought together college and departmental support units.
