Abstract
The e-sherpa represents a nonauthoritarian support person for Web-based collaborative learning environments. The roles, strategies, issues, benefits, and problems in the use of e-sherpas in a computer-supported collaborative learning environment will be presented along with the implications for designing future Web-based knowledge building communities.
