Rutgers IT Complex

Abstract

The genesis and evolution of large-scale data infrastructure on university campuses has historically been an ad hoc effort within the purview of early adopters and technical experts. When customer demographics become dominated by both willing and unwilling adopters, campus infrastructure must be recast in accordance with sound engineering doctrine and effective institutional policy. Rutgers University presents a case study of the transformation of a large, complex data infrastructure in accordance with industry best practices.
