Abstract

Without question, computing and information technology have become ubiquitous in higher education. Students now come to campus to learn about and to learn with computers. Technology is an essential component of the experience. But has the "new computing delivered the promised "computer revolution" in higher education? What have we learned about the "new computing" over the past two decades? How do our accomplishments compare to our aspirations and expectations? And what does the experience of the past two decades tell us about the "new computing" that lies ahead?
