"Since the Blackboard course management system was first introduced at Swarthmore in 2001 as part of a Mellon Foundation-funded pilot program, many professors have been using the system to make course readings and other tools available online, though the growing ubiquity of the system has increasingly caused professors to contend with privacy and copyright concerns."
