Abstract

To succeed in a "flat," global, knowledge-based economy, graduates of higher education institutions must have literacy in science and mathematics, creativity, fluency in information and communication technologies, and the ability to engage in expert decision making and complex communication. Shifts in every aspect of higher education are needed to accomplish this goal.
