Abstract
Your host, Cynthia M. Hadden, deputy CIO and executive director, UIS, Louisiana State University, will be joined by David Swartz and Brian Voss to introduce the special seminars at the regional conferences and to begin the dialogue with a discussion of the evolving role of the IT organization and, in particular, the CIO.
The enterprise IT world is changing rapidly, as is the role of the CIO. Our spot “at the table†is no longer guaranteed. IT as a strategic asset in the university’s future is being overwhelmed and undervalued due to fiscal crises and a facile understanding of cloud computing and next-generation technologies. Our ideas and methods must evolve to keep up with this changing environment. How has the recent adoption of newer technologies changed the enterprise? What changes still need to be made? What will the shape of enterprise IT be a decade from now? What do we need to do to be ready for those changes?
