Abstract
EDUCAUSE and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) jointly responded to a request for comments from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about its review and potential updating of the Safeguards Rule established under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). The associations indicated that the FTC should preserve the flexibility of the Rule, which allows for effective higher education compliance, by not incorporating into it mandates for the use of specific cybersecurity standards, breach notification planning requirements, or information security planning requirements.
