CNI Report: Library Budgets -- Re-orienting Where We Spend Our Money

Abstract

This article is from a regular department in _CAUSE/EFFECT_ that reports on the activities of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI), formed by the Association of Research Libraries, CAUSE, and EDUCOM. The article predicates that by increasing the use of electronic networks for academic libraries, we can reduce costs per unit of storing, circulating, inventorying, and warehousing library materials, and shift that savings into obtaining more information.
