HEIRAlliance Executive Strategies Report #7: Executive Outlook on the Transformation of Higher Education

Abstract

This four-page report outlines some of the challenges to higher education in a fast-paced, knowledge-intensive world, and points out elements that will contribute to its successful adaptation--networked information and people, facilitation of flexible educational systems, learner focus, unbundling of services. It draws the bulk of its message from two recent publications: Transforming Higher Education: A Vision for Learning in the 21st Century (Michael Dolence and Donald Norris), and Using Information Technology to Enhance Academic Productivity (William Massy and Robert Zemsky). This is the seventh release in a series of executive strategies reports offered by the HEIRAlliance, a collaboration between the Association of Research Libraries, CAUSE, and Educom.
