Abstract

This Viewpoint article warns of the dangers of rushing into use of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) without first creating sufficient safeguards for individual privacy. Two other articles in this issue are related to the topic of privacy: "The Use of Electronic Data Interchange under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act" (cem9618) and "Killing the Electronic Messenger" (cem9610).
