Abstract
This Viewpoint article warns that technology is promoting a decline in intellectual standards. Popular culture, focused on the sound bite and access to bullet-points of ÊinstantË information, is neglecting the value of thoughtful discussion and analysis. The author suggests that those involved in higher education information resources can act in ways that will support higher academic standards on the Web.
