For higher education, the capacity of information technology to fundamentally alter the teaching and learning process has never been more evident as online learning merges with in-class instruction. Universities must strategically evaluate how to handle this onslaught of technology and seriously rethink their approaches to teaching and learning, research and discovery, and service and engagement if they are to remain relevant in the decades ahead and answer the growing demands of the world's new "knowledge economy.
