Colgate’s Collaboration for Enhanced Learning (CEL)

Abstract

In March of 2000, Colgate was awarded a grant by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund to establish the Collaboration for Enhanced Learning (CEL), a plan for supporting faculty in the use of technology for pedagogical innovation. The program is a joint initiative between Colgate Libraries and Information Technology Services (ITS). This presentation will outline the different programs that we have implemented to support and promote faculty's use of technology in the liberal arts. An overview of our faculty workshop series, our Web site (designed around best practices in teaching and learning), our online instructional material, and faculty profiles will be presented. As part of Colgate's recent reorganization of ITS, CEL, Media and Instructional Technology, and Fluency in Technology were all brought under the same rubric of Academic Technologies (ACT). The intention is to bring more resources to bear and greater collaborative focus on direct support of the use of technology in teaching and learning.
