Abstract
Higher education is transforming itself through IT innovation. Aligning IT with the institution’s strategies and goals is essential, and institutions must make decisions about which technologies to explore and implement. To address issues of resource allocation and project prioritization, many institutions have put decision-making processes in place through IT governance. This research bulletin looks at IT governance by considering these questions: How does maturity in IT governance impact technology innovation in higher education? When is IT governance a bureaucracy? When is it a facilitator?
