Digital Capabilities in Higher Education, 2016: Information Security

Abstract

Information security persists as a strategic issue in higher education because the data that higher education is entrusted to protect (and the IT systems in which such data are contained) are so varied. From student learning data to research data to data about an institution’s employees, the types of data that must be secured are diverse. This report examines the status of information security maturity and deployment in higher education. The maturity and deployment indices are based on contributions to the EDUCAUSE Core Data Service.
