Meaningful Assessment and the Impact of Technology

Abstract

This session is designed to help campuses address the issues surrounding the pressure for assessment of technology by providing a case study of theories, practices, and tools used and developed over five years at a university providing laptops to students. While the session provides means and methods for those campuses in the process of assessing various types of technology, it also provides a glimpse into the second phase of technology assessment. In this phase, campus cultures move beyond the proof or defense reasons for assessing technology and search for ways to institutionalize the assessment process.
