Information Technology and Accreditation in the United States

Abstract

Over the past few years accreditation standards have been modified to take into account the increasing use of information technology in higher education (e.g., distance education, distributed learning, instructional technology). This Research Bulletin describes the accreditation process and the evolution of accreditation standards. For those institutions preparing for their next accreditation visit, a series of suggestions is offered.
