Abstract

The Flexible Learning Environments eXchange (FLEXspace) is an online resource designed for those in higher education who are considering building or renovating classrooms or other learning venues. It includes a searchable collection of photographs, line drawings, slide decks, floor plans, spec sheets, case studies, research papers, inventories, and videos that describe physical learning spaces. Users can search the database and review details for each record and can build collections of examples that can be shared with others. For learning space planners, FLEXspace can save time, money, and effort, and it can promote clearer communication between faculty and academic administration about how to build innovative classrooms that effectively support teaching and learning.
