The Higher Education Technology Leadership Study: The information Officers of the Future, Reports 2009-2017

Abstract

The Technology Leadership (TL) study surveyed those in the next organizational layer down from the CIO.  The TL study examined the demographics of the TL, where they have worked, and the activities they are undertaking to prepare themselves to become CIOs.  The TL study also includes opinions from the CIOs and IMTs on the activities and attributes they believe are important for a higher education CIO.

The Center for Higher Education CIO Studies (CHECS) was a nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Wayne A. Brown, dedicated to the education and development of technology leaders in higher education.  Effective January 2019, Center for Higher Education CIO Studies (CHECS) research has been transferred to EDUCAUSE, strengthening and consolidating the information available on the CIO role and IT leadership. The information and actionable recommendations in EDUCAUSE  IT Workforce research  and CHECS offerings support the community’s dedication to the education and development of technology leaders in higher education.
