The EDUCAUSE Policy Team produced a pair of brief videos (approx. three minutes each) to update members on relevant federal policy issues as of February 2020. PowerPoint decks (four slides each) are provided as references to use while watching the videos as well as for members to incorporate into their own presentations.
In "IT Policy Update, Part 1," Jarret Cummings, senior advisor for policy and government relations at EDUCAUSE, and Katie Branson, senior associate at Ulman Public Policy, review the general climate for federal policy related to IT in higher education and discuss the association's continuing engagement with the U.S. Department of Education and its Office of Federal Student Aid on information security.
With "IT Policy Update, Part 2," Cummings and Branson highlight key aspects of the Federal Trade Commission's proposed changes to the Safeguards Rule and talk about the status of the association's accessible instructional materials bill, net neutrality, and potential federal privacy legislation.
