Sierra Vista High School and the National Repository of Online Courses

Abstract

"Profiles of Next Generation Learning" is a video series produced by Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Each video explores the ways schools and campuses are leveraging technology to make learning more personal, more flexible, and more meaningful to today's students.

In this video, learn how Sierra Vista High School through the National Repository of Online Courses (NROC) is using technology to customize and personalize education and help its students succeed in alegebra. The NROC is a collection of free digital courses for high school students developed by the Monterey Institute for Technology and Education (MITE). Sierra Vista High School is piloting a blended learning model for Algebra I using MITE’s new online course in order to attempt to offer students an opportunity to achieve success in their most challenging, and often most demoralizing, subject.
