Abstract
Developing a plan to thoughtfully integrate digital badges into higher education initiatives involves an investment of time by multiple stakeholders to ensure a meaningful mapping of outcomes and credentials. This brief provides a roadmap, guidelines, and examples of how to get started and take steps to incorporate digital badges into your programs. It addresses the dynamics of digital badges and badge systems; details how to cultivate a complete badge ecosystem; and considers technology, implementation, and graphic and design components.
