Abstract

Higher education thought leaders from information technology, business operations, and finance met in May 2016 to discuss the changing nature of higher education IT, the forces behind the changes, and how they can collaborate to prepare their colleges and universities for a future more focused on the provision of services than on the technology and applications behind those services.  In this collaboration between EDUCAUSE and NACUBO, several key takeaways emerged as areas where higher education IT and business leaders should focus their efforts as they prepare for the future. They need to align with the institutional mission, focus on team work, build good change management and governance practices, develop and support a sustainable business model, develop strategies for effective sourcing, and understand the cloud’s role in a service-centric future.
